Bahati Working Farm and Big Cat Sanctuary

Hidden in the pristine wilderness of the Waterberg biosphere nature reserve  lies the Bahati Estates, a small slice of paradise that offers visitors understated luxury and a veritable fortune of archaeological treasures and biological diversity.

The Bahati Volunteer Programme provides you the opportunity to experience and get involved in the day-to-day running and operations of an African farm.  At Bahati you can turn your African holiday into the experience of a lifetime. Find yourself or simply unlock your future potential.

The Bahati Volunteer Project offers four-star accommodation at Bushman’s Hide.  Volunteers can enjoy shared accommodation, by way of a luxury safari tent with en-suite bathroom. Excellent meals are included daily, and in your downtime you can indulge in unwinding in a glorious swimming pool as well as play a number of board games.

But the real magic of Bahati enfolds in her natural recesses, where on a walk through the bush you can truly enjoy coming together with nature, drink in a glorious burnt orange African sunset, or simply slip into a faraway world while enjoying a book from our library or just meditating under the shade of a glorious umbrella tree. It is here, where you are so close to nature that you will find that you will be able to truly relax and unwind and reconnect with the person you aspire to be.

Pick Ups and Drop offs

For logistical reasons collection and drop off days will all be on the same day via O.R. Tambo in Johannesburg. Pick ups and drop offs occur on Sundays between 10h00 and 14h00 to reduce additional travelling times and costs. The current rate for a return trip from OR Tambo to Bushman’s Hide is ±R5,000 … If 2 or more volunteers share the cost it will reduced considerably. Please send us your flight arrangements as soon as possible and we will arrange a transfer for. You will be met in the international arrival hall with a signboard.

Alternatively, for arrivals outside our scheduled times, we recommend staying overnight at the City Lodge O.R. Tambo as it reasonably priced and located directly at the Johannesburg airport.
