Peru balsam is collected from wild trees along the 'Balsam Coast' of El Salvador. Peru balsam oil has a very sweet, balsamic, rich, vanilla-like aroma. It has outstanding staying power and is one of the best fixatives. Non toxic, Non irritant. A nice addition to soothing skin creams; imparts a rich, vanilla-like scent. It blends well with spicy, floral, Oriental and balsamic scents. Aromatherapy benefits: anchoring, strengthening. Balsam of Peru is warm and aromatic, much hotter and more stimulating than Balsam of Copaiba and is used for similar complaints. Stimulant, expectorant, parasiticide, asthma, bronchitis, nervous tension, stress, rashes, eczema. Used as a fixative and fragrance component in soaps, detergents, creams, lotions and perfumes. It stimulates the heart, increases blood presure, and lessons mucus secretions; useful for respiratory disorders such as asthma chronic coughs and bronchitis. Used in scabies and skin diseases; it destroys the itch acarus and its eggs, and is much to be preferred to sulphur ointment, also of value in prurigo, pruritis and in later stages of acute eczema. It is applied externally to sore nipples and discharges from the ear. Blends well with ylang-ylang, patchouli, petigrain, sandlewood, rose, spices, and floral and oriental bases. Essential and resin oils are volatile, fragrant materials extracted from the root, bark, wood, seed, fruit, leaf or flower of a single plant. Essential oils contain the odor, taste and medicinal properties of the plant itself, but in very concentrated form, with no base oil, alcohol, water or dilutants added.
