Day 1 – Arrival Kilimanjaro International Airport – Arusha

As you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, and have gone through immigration and baggage reclaim, you will be welcomed by your own Blue Lizard Adventures representative, holding a sign with your name on it. From here, you will transfer to Ilboru Safari Lodge, situated just outside Arusha.

A late dinner will be waiting for you on arrival, before overnight here.

Day 2 – Arusha – Monduli

After a good nights sleep and breakfast at the lodge, a representative from Blue Lizard Adventures will pick you up and from here, you will transfer to an area called Monduli, situated about 50km outside Arusha town. As you reach your camp at Monduli juu, you will meet your camp crew. ready to serve you a delicious lunch.

After lunch, your Masai guide will take you for a short educational walking safari down to a view point overlooking the Great Rift Valley. Later in the afternoon, you will visit a local Masai boma (village), where you will get to experience the traditional way Masai people live.

The Masai people have traditionally been nomadic people, moving to areas that could supply their livestock with enough food and water.

Here you will get to experience and see just how different their lives are, and you will get to experience a traditional Masai dance at the boma.

Dinner will be BBQ, with a full goat on the menu along with an assortment of different dishes. There will be alternative options for food if you do not wish to try the goat.

Day 3 – Walking in the Great Rift Valley

After breakfast at the camp, your Masai guide will take you for a full day walking safari in the Great Rift Valley, a beautiful area where you will encounter local people (Masai) herding their livestock among the wildlife.

The walk is about 4-6 hours depending on fitness, and you will enjoy your lunch in the bush. During the walk, you will learn about the Masai culture and the area you are in, and if you are lucky you might get to see some wildlife such as Gerenuks, Giraffes, Zebras, Thomson and Grant Gazelles, Olive Baboons, Vervet Monkeys and plenty of different bird species.

In the afternoon you will return to your camp for some relaxation, before dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast at the camp you will transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and to an area called Nasera Rock.

You will stop at Oldupai Gorge on route to Nasera, an important archaeological site for a guided tour in the gorge and a visit to the museum there. After the tour in the gorge you will continue to Nasera, where you will enjoy a nice picnic lunch.

In the afternoon you will drive to a nearby cliff to see the breeding spot for Ruppell’s Vultures, and have the opportunity to explore the area, before returning to your camp at Nasera for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Spend the day on a walking safari in the area around Nasera Rock, with lunch either as a hot lunch or as a picnic lunch while walking. Return to the camp in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Ngorongoro Crater  

Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the lodge, before you are met by your safari guides. From here you will drive only a few minutes to the gate of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and descend down into the world famous Ngorongoro Crater for a half day game drive on the crater floor.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a 3 million year old collapsed volcano that over the years has developed a unique eco system, only found here in the world. It boasts an amazing wildlife, and the highly endangered black rhino can be seen here. Ngorongoro Crater is also famous for holding the highest density of predatory mammals over a short area.

Lunch will be at a picnic spot somewhere on the crater floor, before the afternoon  when you will leave the park and return to Tloma Lodge for a nice dinner and drinks.

After breakfast at the camp you will leave the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, heading back to Arusha Town. From here you will either transfer to Kilimanjaro Int. Airport, or, Arusha airport should you wish to extend your trip with a few days well earned rest, relaxing in Zanzibar.

Day 7 – Karatu – Arusha – ?

After breakfast at the lodge you will transfer back to Arusha Town. From here you will either transfer to Kilimanjaro Int. Airport, or, Arusha airport should you wish to extend your trip with a few days well earned rest, relaxing in Zanzibar.
